Last month I had the pleasure to speak with a class of fifth graders at the Plymouth Charter School in Detroit about being a change-maker. I talked to them about being a social entrepreneur. Today I got a beautiful package of thank you letters in the mail from their teacher and Collision Works supporter Allie Gross. Just wow! They were all great so it was hard to pick just one to share. I like this one for lots of reasons, but especially because it was clear I was sending out positive vibes. That’s what we are building folks! Sustainable business with welcoming good vibes.
Dear Shel Kimen,
I am a girl changemaker in the fifth grade. I’m writing to you to let you know I greatly appreciate you coming and talking to our class. My favorite part was when you said you are building a hotel about stories. I’m sure your hotel will be a big success. People are sure to have a lot of fun reading stories at the hotel.
You are a changemaker because you are recycling which is solution-based instead of problem-based. You also are not putting out negative vibes in your creation, only positive. Maybe others would want to do the same.
As time goes on I hope your creation goes well. I hope you can come in and speak to us again about your projects and other wonderful things. Maybe you can help us with upcoming changemaker events.
