This year Collision Works attended the Meeting of the Minds annual event, held this year in Detroit at the College for Creative Studies. The conference brought together 350 invited leaders, from more than a dozen countries, representing the public, private, and non-profit sectors to talk about urban sustainability, smart cities, and resilience.
On October 2nd, the last evening of the event, Collision Works and Deep Dive Detroit hosted an intimate dinner for 18 people who attended the conference and were selected to attend based on their unique and diverse perspectives of the city, region, and country. We had a fantastic mix of local and visitor, nationality, gender, and age. From Lagos catered the event in the beautiful Antietem space in Eastern Market and like the food, the conversation was RICH.
Like all things we do, we got very real, very fast with the gifted facilitation of our favorite collaborator Lauren Hood (Deep Dive Detroit). At times voices raised and frustrations boiled over, and at other times we witnessed incredible compassion and generosity. In the end it all comes down to sharing our personal stories and experiences to shine light on new connections and possibilities. Everyone left satisfied and asking for more.
We are aiming to do these events quarterly and if your company or organization needs some facilitation around hard to talk about issues related to Detroit in a way that is safe, fun, and engaging (and delicious) let us know. We would love to help you out.
