Last night I went to the Virgil Carr Center to listen to Ivory Williams tell ‘Stories For Grown-ups.’ If you live in Detroit he is someone to seek out. Send him your email and get on his list. He’ll remind you what you were meant to do on this earth. And it won’t take him long. And in-between profound a-ha moments you will laugh and smile and believe it when he says it’s really simple. This picture was taken a year ago March at a workshop I held at the University of Detroit Mercy to get people involved in designing the hotel. (Photographer: Garbriella Marks.)
Ivory is a backer of this project, on the First Container Team, and member of the Collision Works Launch Committee. Last night he asked everyone in the room to tell more stories. So I’m going to tell a story, which is sort of about the first time I met Ivory, and also about Detroit.
Thank you for also supporting this project so we can someday provide more access to great talent like Ivory.
