The Sparks program has been taking off. People are getting matched up and first meetings are just beginning to happen. It’s great how enthusiastic people are.
*** Our first Spark Panel to hear stories from participants and have some good old fashion conversation will happen Thursday, June 19th in Shed 5 at Eastern Market from 6-9pm. Here’s the facebook invite. We hope to see you! ***
Here is why some people have joined the program:
“As someone who grew up in metro Detroit, moved away for 8 years and recently moved to Detroit (West Village), I feel like I have a unique perspective to share about the city. Metro Detroit has always been home for me, but living in the city has been a wonderful and eye-opening experience so far. I’m looking to continue to become more involved and connected in my new community.”
“Bridging gaps between long term Detroiters and new comers. I think that it is important for the new generation to understand more about the city’s history and some of the struggles and successes of it. It’s also important for the older generation to understand that a new wave of Detroiters can be a positive experience for the city.”
“Communication between the old and new is vital if we are going to keep Detroit’s culture as the population increases. And I’m not just talking about the arts!”
“Repurposing materials to renew my city. Regenerating this lovely city and inspiring others. We are people that make things and make things happen. IMO, this is the spirit of the city. Together we can, and we will!”
“I would so love to meet someone who is passionate about Detroit and enjoys sharing their stories about this great city!”
We hope you’ll join us!
